An apartment full of glass walls as seen in the most modern metropolises. Daylight comes through the transparent walls all around and you feel like you're on top of the world. The perfect home observatory. Only problem? Where to place the kitchen furniture into this design space. Because here, the classic rules don’t apply.
A unique double island
When we first met with the client, he knew exactly what appliances he wanted. But he left the rest on us. Due to the specific ground plan, our Sykora design team decided for a very atypical solution - installation of two parallel islands. They function as both a work and service surface, while offering plenty of storage space. Thanks to its doubling, it perfectly serves the needs of the owners and the requirements of a luxurious, airy interior.
A well-planned pattern, perfect realization
For the islands, we chose Pure white varnish in a polished gloss finish and placed a Crystal Callacata technical stone worktop on top. In addition to its practical parameters, it also stands out for its stunning pattern, which seamlessly transitions to the side panel and elegantly connects to the covers of the electrical sockets.
The place where two worlds are crossing
Although, by type they are two solitaires, in the area both islands act as an interconnected utility centre. They are accessible from all sides, so you can conveniently cut vegetables on one of them while checking the pots on the other. One features a washing zone, on the other there is a cooking zone. And one of the islands is also equipped with a bar with seating. The massive walnut we used for the bar blends beautifully with the white “canvases" of the islands and visually supports the chocolate look of the tall cabinets built into the interior wall.
Smart wall and full of beauty
That is where the smart appliances - baking and compact oven, warming drawer, monoclimatic refrigerator or separate freezer - have found their place. Ingeniously, but unobtrusively, they hide behind the Antique Dark Oak veneer and wait for the command to open. In order to preserve the pure charm, we have opted for a touch opening Tip-On system instead of classic handles. And the refrigerator and freezer have an innovative electric opening. Even in case of these tall cabinets, the designers made sure that the years of the wood correspond perfectly together.
When you buy your dream home, you want it to be not only beautiful to look at, but also perfectly functional. So that the glamorous form does not interfere with the utility. Because only then it really is a living and not a museum. We are happy that it all worked out beautifully.
